Application
Applicants to The Writer’s Studio 2011 are asked to submit the following:
And the following documents (all in quadruplicate):
- a statement of why you think The Writer’s Studio is right for you.
- a writing résumé detailing all your writing-related activities: writing groups, writing-related volunteer work, readings, training and education, writing contest entries and publications.
- 20 pages maximum of creative writing that show your range as a writer. You are encouraged to include selections from several pieces and a variety of genres, as long as all are strong examples of your work. More recent work is preferred. The collected manuscript must be submitted and prepared according to professional standards:
- double-spaced,
- single-sided printing,
- identified on every page with your name, title and a page number. (typically, title at top-centre, name top-right, and page number bottom-centre.)
Please provide copies, not originals, as your manuscript will not be returned.
All applicants must include a non-refundable manuscript reading fee of $60 with their application.
All applicants must also include a Certificate Application Fee of $275 (This fee is returned to all those not accepted into the Writer’s Studio.)
Once accepted into the Studio, tuition for The Writer’s Studio is $4,000, payable no later than November 30, 2010. (Note: the cost of electives required to complete a Writer’s Studio Certificate is additional and will vary according to your choice of electives.)
