December’s TWS Reading Series
December’s TWS Reading Series will take place at Rhizome Cafe (317 East Broadway) on Thursday the 10th, from 7 pm - 9:30 pm.
Readers include:
ALEX WINSTANLEY 23-year-old Alex strolls around spinning poems about the sky or a baby or a man with a limp on the bus. In short, he lives intensely in a way which many of us have forgotten. A Vancouverite and student of literature and writing, Alex regularly performs spoken word and stand-up comedy. Soon to be published is his collection of poems titled The Colours of Dystopia.
MAURETIA HOLLOWAY is completing the SFU Writers Studio this year and is currently working on her memoir of living and growing up in Africa. She will read an excerpt from her memoir entitled The Book of Mistakes.
REX MOORE an SFU Alumni, has had several articles published in the Georgia Straight and Vancouver Sun. He uses humour extensively with a narrative style to make his point [if there is any] and has read at three TWS Nights to date. At home, he assumes the role of “Adam.”
RENEE SAROJINI SAKLIKAR writes poetry and non-fiction and is currently working on The Canada Project – about her life from India to Canada – from coast to coast. A recipient of the 2003 first place poetry award at the Surrey International Writers’ Conference, Renee writes a current affairs blog for http://canadasworld.wordpress.com
CHRISTINE GRIMARD has always been fascinated by words, the nuances of meaning, and the written expression of ideas. She writes fiction, non-fiction, and some poetry. She tempers her obsession with writing with a constant search for new adventures, which gives her something to write about. Her writing helps keep her happy, grounded, and suffering from lack of sleep.
GURJINDER BASRAN’s manuscript “Everything Was Good-bye” was shortlisted for Mother Tongues Search for the Great BC Novel Contest and Amazon.com’s International Breakthrough Novel Contest. Gurjinder is a graduate of SFU’s Writers Studio and a current member of the Wired Writing Studio at the Banff Center for the Arts.
CHRISTOPHER GEISEL lives in Vancouver with his wife and two children. He graduated from Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio in 2006.
ROB TAYLOR lives in Vancouver with his wife, Marta. His poetry has appeared recently in subTerrain, Prairie Fire, and The Antigonish Review. He’s published two chapbooks, splattered earth and Child of Saturday with a third, Lyric, forthcoming in 2010 from The Alfred Gustav Press.
MARNI NORWICH is a writer/editor with her business, Inkcat Media and the proud mom of Wildflowers at my doorstep (Karma Press, 2008). She’s pleased to announce that her young volume won an indie publisher award for poetry this year.

MARGARET THOMPSON is the author of six books, as well as prize-winning short stories, essays and poems in various literary magazines. Her second collection of personal essays, “Adrift on the Ark: Our Connection to the Natural World”, has just been published. She is a past president of the Federation of BC Writers, and a member of the editorial committee of WordWorks.
